01 — About the race

Born in Brooklyn.
Built for runners.

Since 2011, The Brooklyn Marathon has grown from a gritty local loop into one of America’s most loved independent marathons. No lottery hell, no $400 entry, no buses at 4am. Just a fast park course, insane crowd energy, and the borough that never cheers quietly.

2011 — The first loop

300 runners, one tent, hand-written bibs in Prospect Park. Brooklyn fell in love instantly.

2018 — The comeback & growth

Rebuilt as a runner-first festival: closed roads, elite field, live music every mile, real prize money.

2024 — 10,000 finishers

Sold-out weekend with marathon, half, 10K and kids dash. 92% would recommend to a friend.

2026 — The loudest edition

12,000 spots, new finish village at Bartel-Pritchard Square, 40+ cheer zones, expanded non-binary and adaptive divisions.
